Pierre Rimbeau

In the world of Deadlands Noir, Pierre has been many things: a Soldier, a Detective, a Private Investigater, and a Harrowed*.

Born in New Orleans an only child with a large extended family, Pierre was raised in the Voodoo tradition, and when his gift for magic became apparent, he was immediately set up to be trained as a Houngan. You never ignore a child who has been favoured by the Loa, of course. Unfortunately, despite his skill with magic and gris-gris, and his desire to help those around him, Pierre's gruff attitude, terseness, and short temper meant the responsibilities of a Houngan never settled quite right. Something that showed in his magic too: blessed with a healing touch, the first thing he ever learned, but his gift leaned more toward the dark and the angry.

His family would often joke that he was given his gifts by Marinette, but over the course of his life, Pierre has begun to wonder more and more if it isn't the Barons who took a shine to him instead.

After a time, Pierre left home, feeling there was little he could do for the community, and eventually his time travelling landed him all the way in a POW camp during the Great War. Pierre got two things here: Thanks to the spiritual strain of the war, Pierre ended up bulloxed*, something frustrating to be in a time of rapid technological growth. He also met his closest friend here, Bobby Malone. After the war, the two became cops in the Chicago PD and became detectives together two. The two shared a desire to solve the problems of the city that made them effective at closing cases, and a distaste for the crooked police around them that meant... Well, they didn't actually get many cases.

They also shared a staggering propensity for getting into fights, and an incredible inability to keep their noses out of things.
